What's Tested
  • Vitamin E

The Vitamin E Test measures the amount of vitamin E both alpha-tocopherol and gamma-tocopherol, which are two forms of this fat-soluble antioxidant — in your blood. Vitamin E helps protect cells, support immune function, promote wound healing, reduce inflammation, and may prevent blood clots. Alpha-tocopherol is the primary form used by the body. Low levels of vitamin E may lead to fatigue, weakened immunity, balance problems, or vision issues. Vitamin E is found in foods like fruits, nuts, seeds, plant oils, eggs, and leafy greens in your diet.

FAQ

  • A vitamin E blood test helps assess your vitamin E level, which plays a key role in skin, eye and immune health and helps protect your cells from oxidative damage. Individuals with restrictive or limited diets or certain conditions that interfere with normal digestion such as Crohn’s disease or cystic fibrosis can develop vitamin E malabsorption.

For those experiencing low vitamin E symptoms such as muscle weakness, vision problems and a weakened immune system, testing can determine your vitamin E level to support your health.

This test can also identify excess vitamin E in your body, which could be caused by over-supplementation of vitamin E.
