Indoor & Outdoor Allergy Test

See what’s triggering your seasonal or year-round respiratory allergies.

Whether it’s a tickle in your throat, itchy, watery eyes, or you can’t stop sneezing—respiratory allergies could be to blame. Allergic rhinitis (or hay fever) is a common condition and can affect all ages. Symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis occur in spring, summer and/or early fall. They are usually caused by allergic sensitivity to pollens from trees, grasses or weeds.³

This environmental allergy test measures IgE antibodies (released by the body in response to allergens) to assess your body’s immune response to common indoor and outdoor allergens including pollen, mold, pet and animal dander, dust mites, grasses and more.

Note: Having measurable IgE for a particular allergen does not guarantee that you will have an allergic reaction when exposed to it. In general, higher IgE levels are associated with a greater chance of having a true allergy but do not predict how severe your allergic symptoms could be.¹

IgE testing is not considered sufficient to diagnose an allergy on its own.² Results from this test should be interpreted in the context of your medical history with a health care provider or an allergist. Results should be shared and discussed with a healthcare professional before making an allergy diagnosis.

FAQ

  • Outdoor allergies are very common. Approximately 81 million adults in the United States have seasonal allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever. This seasonal allergy, most common in the spring and fall, includes allergic reactions to pollen from trees, grasses and weeds.11 Common symptoms may include sinus pressure, itchy/watery eyes, nasal congestion, and sneezing.

  • Allergen testing may help you discover more about your body’s immune response to common allergens inside and outside the home. While our environmental allergy test can assess how you respond to common indoor and outdoor allergens such as pollen, mold, animal dander, dust mites, grasses and more, it is not enough to diagnose an allergy on its own. After taking this test, you should share your results with a healthcare provider or allergist who can help you interpret results in the context of your medical history to come to the right diagnosis and treatment plan.

  • Your results will be provided to you through our secure online portal to view or print. Results are also provided to PWNHealth, which provides professional healthcare provider services for OnDemand tests. If you are accessing your results through your Labcorp Patient account, all users linked to the account will have access to all OnDemand test results. Results may also be provided to a local, state, or federal health authority, but only when legally required. For example, many states require the testing laboratory and healthcare provider to report test results for certain communicable diseases, such as sexually transmitted diseases or COVID-19, to local or state health departments.
