While there is no definitive answer in knowing how long varicella (chickenpox) vaccine immunity lasts, some studies suggest that people vaccinated against varicella are protected for at least 10 to 20 years.³
If you’re not sure whether you have varicella (chickenpox) immunity, a chickenpox test may be right for you. Taking a chickenpox immunity test will let you know if you have developed antibodies against the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in response to a prior chickenpox infection or vaccination. You can discuss your test results with your provider to determine whether and when you should consider another vaccination to maintain your immunity.
Your results will be provided to you through our secure online portal to view or print. Results are also made available through a secure portal to the independent healthcare provider who placed your test order. If you are accessing your results through your Labcorp Patient™ account, all users linked to the account will have access to all OnDemand test results. Results may also be provided to a local, state, and/or federal health authority; for example, many states require the testing laboratory and physician to report test results for certain communicable diseases, such as COVID-19, to local or state health departments.
