Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I go for testing?
Some Labcorp OnDemand® tests (such as the Pixel by Labcorp® COVID-19 test), are available as at-home kits, where you collect your own sample and send it back to our lab.
Some tests require a visit to one of Labcorp’s many convenient locations for sample collection. All customers purchasing in-lab testing must be 18 and older. Please remember to bring your lab requisition number and a photo ID to the lab. Note that Labcorp does not have locations for sample collection in HI, ME, ND, or VT, but you can still purchase testing if you live in one of these states and are willing to travel for sample collection or if you choose an at-home kit.
How accurate is this testing?
Your testing will be performed in a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory. Labcorp provides leading-edge medical laboratory tests and services through a national network of primary clinical laboratories and specialty testing laboratories. Our labs perform regular quality assurance testing to ensure our results are accurate.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No, but scheduling your visit in advance may minimize your wait time. Making an appointment is especially helpful when you are fasting overnight.
Do I need to fast before testing?
It depends on the test. Some tests, like the lipid panel, require a 12-14 hour fasting period. When fasting is required, only black coffee (no cream or sweetener) and water are permitted. Some tests have other special instructions, which are noted on the description of each test.
Will a physician contact me about my results?
If a test result requires prompt attention, including a positive HIV or sexually transmitted disease (STD) result, a physician or staff member from PWN will contact you directly by phone or mail.
