Custom Prenatal Test

This prenatal test includes screenings recommended during early pregnancy.

Customize Your Test

Early pregnancy is an important time to understand your health and identify factors that may affect pregnancy. The Custom Prenatal Test measures common markers checked early in pregnancy such as blood type, blood cell counts, blood sugar level, and screening for common sexually transmitted infections.

This prenatal panel helps provide a baseline view of your blood health, infection status, and urinary health so you can take informed next steps with your healthcare provider. Identifying potential concerns early allows for timely follow‑up, monitoring, or treatment when needed.

This test is ideal for individuals who are newly pregnant, suspect they may be pregnant, or want early prenatal screening insights before or alongside their first prenatal appointment.

Note: This test does not replace prenatal care or medical advice. Always review results with your healthcare provider to determine appropriate next steps during pregnancy.

FAQ

  • A prenatal screening panel is a group of lab tests often done in early pregnancy. These tests give you and your healthcare provider helpful information about your overall health, including blood health, the potential presence of certain infections, and urinary health. These tests help establish a baseline for prenatal care.

  • Your healthcare provider typically orders a set of early‑pregnancy labs to check your health and look for conditions that may affect your pregnancy. These may include:

    • Blood type and Rh factor
    • CBC to check red and white blood cells, and platelets
    • Immunity tests, such as rubella or chickenpox (varicella) immunity (not included in this panel)
    • Infectious disease screening, such as tests for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis
    • Urinalysis to check for urinary tract infections, general kidney or hydration markers
    • Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) to identify possible pre‑existing diabetes or pre-diabetes

Your healthcare provider may recommend additional tests depending on your medical history, age, or risk factors. Some of these tests may not be included in this Labcorp OnDemand panel.

  • Getting a result outside the typical range doesn’t always mean something is wrong.

Many conditions detected early in pregnancy, such as anemia or changes in blood sugar, are common and treatable. Your healthcare provider will help interpret your results in the context of your overall health and pregnancy stage and guide you on any follow-up testing, monitoring, or treatment that may be needed.

  • This panel is typically taken during early pregnancy, often before or around your first prenatal visit. It may also be taken if you think you might be pregnant and early screening is desired.

  • Three common prenatal tests include:

    1. Blood type and Rh factor test – Helps determine if you and your baby may have Rh incompatibility, a treatable blood‑type mismatch that can affect pregnancy.
    2. CBC – Checks for anemia, infection, and platelet issues.
    3. Infectious disease screening – Often includes testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, and other infections that can impact pregnancy.

Other early‑pregnancy evaluations, such as ultrasound, noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT), or glucose screening, may also be done depending on your pregnancy stage and your provider’s recommendations.

  • No. This panel does not confirm pregnancy. If you need pregnancy confirmation, a separate hCG pregnancy test is recommended.
