The Amylase Test measures the amount of amylase, an enzyme that helps break down carbohydrates, in your blood. Amylase is primarily produced by the pancreas, and an abnormal level may indicate conditions such as pancreatitis, pancreatic injury or other digestive disorders. Monitoring amylase levels may provide insights into your digestive health and can help detect issues early, supporting timely medical guidance and treatment.
Note: Amylase results are often interpreted alongside other tests, such as lipase. This test is not intended to diagnose a disease or condition. An abnormal amylase level may indicate a variety of conditions and does not confirm a diagnosis on its own. Results should be interpreted by a healthcare provider in the context of your overall health and medical history.
